 & how to make your own citronella candle this spring.

These handmade and designed hurricane candle holders are both unique and beautiful.

Kristin from Hooga Homes built these with a protective windshield easy to rotate to block the wind.

The reflective glaze adds a beautiful effect in the night sky. 

Ceramic hurricane candle holder

If you love candles and would like to try your hand at making your own, here is the perfect stylish kit

to guarantee a successful outcome. 

The kits consist of: Candle making kit- citronella & vanilla

Glass cylinder, crochet cover, 2 x wicks, 2 x wick holders, 260 gram Soy Wax, 5% fragrance- Citronella & Vanilla and 4 yellow color pellets

Additional Items you will need:

Glue gun to secure your wicks, 2 stove top pots-1 large & 1 small, thermometer and a skewer to stir

Method:

    • Secure your wicks evenly spaced with glue in your cylinder
    • Use the wick holders to keep wicks in place
    • Add your wax to your melting pot and place in a larger pot with water, bring to a boil and allow wax to melt completely.
    • Add the color flakes at 75 degrees and stir well
    • Add the fragrance at 65 degrees and stir well
    • Pour wax into cylinder at 59 degrees, leave a quarter of the wax behind to do a top up layer 24 hrs after your first pour.
    • Allow to cool for 24hrs
    • Melt the top up wax, same method as before
    • Pour top up layer at 65 degrees.
    • Allow to cool for 12hrs
    • Trim your wicks
    • Light your candle and ensure you burn it long enough to have the top evenly melted to create a good burn memory.
